Firmware flashing: Starter Guide

Requirements

How-To Flash

Step 1

Power up the Exelonix-Device by connecting the USB-micro cable (1) and the power-on switch (2).
The USB connection is just needed to power up the device, so it can be plugged for example to an USB charger.

Step 2

Assemble the ST-Link V2 programmer with the Exelonix adapter and the Tag-Connect cable. Make sure that power jumper is set (1) and that the red wire (2) is on the right side of the adapter (if viewed on front view).
The USB cable of the programmer is used to transfer the firmware, so it has to be plugged into the PC.

Step 3

Connect the Tag-Connect cable to the NB-Device. During flashing (see Step 5) the Tag-Connect cable needs to be pressed down slightly to the board for some seconds.

Step 4

Open the STM32CubeProgrammer
Hint: If the Programmer warns about the firmware version of the ST-Link, do a Firmware upgrade first

  1. Switch to the "Erasing & Programming" tab

  2. Select the latest firmware for your device (e.g. hardware.17-008_XDK_V3.3.bin)

  3. Make sure that the "Verify" and "Run after Programming" option is selected.

  4. Start pressing the Tag-Connect cable slightly to the device board for a secure connection.
Then press "Start the programming" and wait some seconds until a success message is displayed.
After that, you can stop pressing down the Tag-Connect cable.

Step 5

After successfully programming the device will start with the new firmware version (e.g. Version:3.3)
