5G SENS Terms Of Use

The 5G SENS is an industrial product and may only be used in an industrial environment. Furthermore, the use within a distance of less than 20 cm to the human body is not allowed.

This device uses radio technologies to communicate with the environment. Mainly the internal antenna causes a good RF performance. However, the RF performance will degrade by a faulty application. In addition to a minimum distance of 20 cm to the human body, you should avoid larger metal surfaces in the device's immediate vicinity. Placing the device on such a surface could negatively affect the transmitting and receiving power and changes the radiation pattern. Even humidity will cause an attenuating effect. Use the device in free space for optimal conditions regarding the RF performance.

The 5G SENS is not a medical device. That means the 5G SENS is not intended for a medical purpose, to be used directly on humans.

Noise from an active USB-Connection

The USB connection is a high-speed data interface with a clock, which might also cause interfering RF noise. The clock noise shows up at multiples of 480 MHz since the USB clock is 48 MHz * 10 = 480 MBit/s. This type of RF noise is commonly seen at 480/960 MHz on USB-powered wireless devices and might affect the performance of the 5G SENS in the lower frequency bands.

Therefore the following is recommended:

  • Ensure proper EMC shielding of the USB-Connection

Proper Measurement Results

The device's design is tested for proper measurement results within the given ranges in the datasheet. Please note that each device has a measurement settling time which increases towards the edges of the measurement range.

For larger changes in humidity values, please allow long settling times (hours to days in the extreme case).

For temperature measurements, please note the device is very sensitive to the environment. Small differences in placements in the environment might cause more effect on temperature readings than expected.

Note, that the air pressure is dependent on the measurement height.

Note, for GNSS values, these are dependent on the GNSS technology, and the connectivity to according satellites.
